Elmhurst Mayor Will Not Seek Homestead Exemption on Rentals

DiCianni told the Tribune he wants to avoid any perception of impropriety.

The Chicago Tribune Jan. 16 quotes Elmhurst Mayor Pete DiCianni as saying he would be "paying more than my fair share" of taxes on two properties he rents out. He said he will not seek the homestead exemption on the rentals.

He said the exemptions are legal, but he wants to "alleviate any speculation by those searching for improper exemptions that don't exist."
