Elmhurst Mayor: Three Sitting Aldermen Vie for City's Top Spot

A guide to the April 2013 mayoral race: Will it be Steve Morley, Diane Gutenkauf or Mark Mulliner?

The three-way race for Elmhurst mayor includes aldermen from the 1st, 6th and 7th wards, who all say they are uniquely suited to bringing consensus to the City Council and representing taxpayers. Former Mayor Pete DiCianni resigned his post when he was elected to the DuPage County Board in District 2 last November.

Mark Mulliner is currently the longest-serving alderman on Elmhurst City Council. The life-long Elmhurst resident has served Elmhurst's 7th Ward for 12 years, and he currently serves on the city's Finance, Council Affairs and Administrative Services Committee. He also previously served on Elmhurst Public Library Board for six years.

Steve Morley also is a life-long Elmhurst resident, and he is president of an Elmhurst business. He has served on the City Council as 6th Ward alderman since 2007, and he currently is chairman of the city's Development, Planning and Zoning Committee.

Diane Gutenkauf has lived in Elmhurst for 18 years and served on the City Council as 1st Ward alderman since 2007. She currently serves on the city's Public Works and Buildings Committee. She is director of the McCormick Museum at Cantigny Park, and formerly served as curator of Elmhurst Historical Museum.
