City Consultant Ready to Meet With Elmhurst Flooding Task Force

Task Force members' mission defined as flood mitigation planning moves forward.

Christopher Burke Engineering, the consulting firm hired by the city of Elmhurst to create a flood control plan, is ready to meet with members of the Comprehensive Flood Task Force.

Task force members, appointed last year after summer rains caused significant damage in several areas of town, are Elmhurst residents from all areas of the city selected to work with the City Council, city staff and consultants on flood control.

The task force has been divided into five study groups: Public Sanitary System Infrastructure, Stormwater System Infrastructure, Individual Home Flood Proofing, Public Education, and ComEd and Electric Power.

Mayor Pete DiCianni in a letter has asked task force members to meet with the consultants from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at City Hall to hear an update, outline the work expected of the five subgroups and identify the next steps.

“The consultant team reports that their work is at a point where a productive exchange of information with the task force would be appropriate,” the letter states.
