Elmhurst City Council Will Discuss TIF and ComEd Monday

Committee of the Whole meeting on ComEd will immediately follow regular City Council meeting.

Elmhurst City Council will meet Monday, Sept. 19, at , 209 N. York St.

The public meeting will be preceded by a closed session atΒ  7 p.m. to discuss probable or imminent litigation, and appointment, employment or compensation of a city employee.

Police Chief Steve Neubauer will lead the first order of business, recognition of , during the public meeting, which begins at 7:30 p.m.

Attendees will then have an opportunity to speak before the council on any topic for up to three minutes.

In additional to approval of minutes and accounts payable, the consent agenda will include the following items:

  • A review of the solicitor ordinance 31.240 will be referred to the Public Affairs and Safety Committee for review and recommendation
  • Approval of a contract with AAA Concrete Raising for sidewalk repair at a cost not to exceed the budgeted amount of $40,000 to raise about 1,100 sunken sidewalk squares throughout the city
  • Approval to dispose of city property at the DuPage Mayors and Managers Auction Oct. 22. Property to be auctioned includes cars, a trailer, boat, water pumps, generators, a washing machine, dryer, air compressors and tools.
  • Approval for the to hire two more officers to bring the department staffing level up to 68 sworn officers
  • Approval to replace the yield signs at Sunnyside Avenue and Montrose Avenue with stop signs
  • Approval to maintain the current funding policy for the police and firefighter pensions
  • Approval of a new electronic sign for
  • Approval for continued funding of the "Shop/Buy Elmhurst" campaign, a city economic development program administered by the
  • Approval of an ordinance granting historic landmark designation for the home at 208 S. Arlington Ave.
  • Approval of a resolution authorizing the purchase of rock salt in the amount of $381,773

The council will then be asked to approve an inducement resolution and a feasibility study, as well as authorize Kane McKenna to proceed with eligibility studies, for the North York Road, York and Vallette, and Riverside Drive.

City Council members will then hear general updates from Mayor Pete DiCianni, and a status report on the progress of the stormwater comprehensive plan from assistant City Manager Mike Kopp.

The regular City Council meeting will then be adjourned, and a Committee of the Whole meeting will immediately follow. The meeting, requested by aldermen Paula Pezza, Michael Bram and Mark Mulliner, is to discuss ComEd Senate Bill 1652,
