The DPZ Committee also will look at a recommendation for an amendment to a zoning ordinance for the central business district. The proposal is to allow a change in building heights from four stories (45 feet) to six stories (65 feet). The item was scheduled to be on the Zoning and Planning Commission agenda for May 26, but was canceled after 1st Ward aldermen Paula Pezza and Diane Gutenkauf complained that notice had not been given to residents within 500 feet of the district. The city is considering redeveloping a vacant medical office building on Addison Street. The proposal also would affect development of any properties on the west side of Addison Street, which is adjacent to homeowners.
