Elmhurst Aldermen Will Resume Budget Talks, Vote on Purchases, Stops Signs and More

Elmhurst City Council members will meet as a Committee of the Whole Monday to continue their review of the 2014 budget. But first, they will take care of business in their regular meeting, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.

Following a public forum and announcements, the board will vote to approve the consent agenda, which in addition to approval of minutes and accounts payable, includes:

  • appointment of 7th Ward Alderman Mark Mulliner to the Veterans Memorial Commission. He will replace 2nd Ward Alderman Norm Leader, who resigned from the position.
  • reclassification of Industrial Drive (York to Grand Avenue) from "local road" to "collector—urban." The change would allow city to apply for federal funding for road maintenance and reconstruction.
  • purchase of three 2014 Ford utility police interceptor vehicles from Currie Motors for $77,375
  • yield sign at Fay and Glenview avenues
  • front yard setback variation at 822 S. Bryan
  • ordinance vacating portions of the Gladys Avenue right of way
  • second annual Elmhurst Cycling Classic
  • stop signs at McKinley and Swain
  • yield signs at Howard and Gladys
  • stop signs at Walnut and Second
  • rezoning of 140 and 160 Industrial Drive to C3A
  • replacement of two Altec aerial bucket trucks for about $315,000
  • purchase of two 2014 E-85 Ford Fusion Hybrids for the engineering department for $23,778 apiece
  • approval of contract with McGuire Engineers for the HVAC improvements at Elmhurst Historical Museum at a cost not to exceed $25,000
  • change order for the Saylor Jackson lift station force main replacement

  • bond refinancing
  • sales tax rebate incentive request from Napleton Group
  • 2013 tax levy
  • request to deny applicant's request for subdivision and variations at 184 N. Walnut St.

The regular meeting will conclude with reports from Mayor Steve Morley and City Manager Jim Grabowski.

The Committee of the Whole meeting is expected to begin around 8 p.m., following adjournment of the regular meeting.
