Eighteen Summer Interns Learn Demands of Public Service in Springfield

State Rep. Chris Nybo praises their commitment.

The summer internship program of state Rep. Chris Nybo (R-41st, Elmhurst) has attracted 18 community-minded individuals seeking to build their understanding of state government, public policy and legislative affairs. The program provides an opportunity for students interested in public service or in need of education credits.

“This is a tremendous group of individuals who have a strong work ethic and who are building skills and experience to compliment their future academic and career goals,” Nybo said. “These are future leaders who now have hands-on experience with communications, public policy, understanding local issues and serving the public.”

The program has attracted interns from nine towns, including Hinsdale, Glen Ellyn, Oak Brook, Lombard, Elmhurst, Downers Grove, Naperville, LaGrange and Bensenville. The group represents eight local high schools, including Glenbard West, Hinsdale Central, Glenbard East, Fenwick, Downers Grove South, Immaculate Conception, Nequa Valley and Fenton.  Colleges represented include UIC, Boston College, Davidson, University of Illinois (Champaign), Benedictine, Indiana University, Taylor University and the University of Iowa.
