Committees Will Discuss a Liquor License for Walgreen's, Street Sweeping Bids and More Monday Night

Members of the public can bring their comments to the committee meetings.

Three of Elmhurst City Council's four standing committees will meet Monday, Jan. 23, at City Hall, 209 N. York St. But before breaking into their committees, aldermen will hold a special City Council executive session at 6:30 p.m. The purpose of the closed session will be to discuss the appointment, employment or compensation of a city officer or employee, and acquisition/disposition of real property.

Committee meetings are expected to start at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The Development, Planning and Zoning Committee agenda only lists a "review of pending items" and public comments.

The Public Affairs and Safety Committee will discuss a Class PL liquor license for Walgreen's, a change in requirements for the beverage alcohol sellers and servers education and training program (Basset), and railroad grade crossing alteration at West Avenue and the Union Pacific Railroad. The committee also will discuss traffic updates at that railroad crossing, at the Illinois Prairie Path and York Road, and at Spring and Kuester Way. Items pending before the committee also will be discussed and public comment will be welcome.

Finally, the Public Works and Buildings Committee will discuss the refuse and recycling program, the 2012-14 mosquito management program and sidewalk policy. The committee also will discuss bids for the 2012-14 street sweeping program and entertain public comments.

The Finance, Council Affairs and Administrative Services Committee is not scheduled to meet Monday.
