Committee will Continue Discussion on Dual Elected Duty in Light of Attorney's Opinion

Elmhurst's Finance, Council Affairs and Administrative Services Committee will again take up the subject of dual elected duty at 7 p.m. tonight, Monday, June 25.

Last week, the attorney hired by the city on whether city officials can serve two elected positions at one time. The opinion states that the city can pass an ordinance preventing dual elected duty, but should do so only after a referendum is brought before the citizens of Elmhurst.

The Finance Committee also will be discussing and sewer rates for well users.

The Public Affairs and Safety Committee will discuss the Knights of Columbus recycling event, a commercial film ordinance and other pending items.

Development, Planning and Zoning Committee has two items in its agenda: Discussion of the North York Road tax increment financing district and a sign request for , 345 S. Kenilworth.

Finally, the Public Works and Buildings Committee will discuss preliminary design services for 135 Addison Ave., a change order for the construction of an anaerobic digester, purchase of a high-pressure trailer-mounted jetter and bids for traffic signal pole painting.

All meetings begin at 7 p.m. at , 209 N. York St. Members of the public also will be given an opportunity to speak at each meeting.

I agree with you but I don't know if we as just citizen's can do anything to stop that practice. IRead More wish that each cyclist had to have a license, and that it was enforced by laws and police, on the bike so that people could report occurrences and have the person receive a ticket just like a person driving an auto. That would make sense.

I was really hoping that the Elmhurst Police would sound in on this info-I do understand kids willRead More be kids, but if one of them is hurt, that adult driver will need to live with that for the rest of their life-so let's come up with a solution for both bicyclist and cars to be in harmony. I really think that a step up in enforcement in the bicycle laws would help-just like the drunk driving laws-believe me the bicycle laws are just as important.
