City Council Will Look at Hahn Street RFP and Stormwater Mitigation Monday

Aldermen also set to approve multiple contracts and purchases.

Elmhurst City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 3, to discuss a number of items, including the stormwater mitigation open house meetings and a request for proposals for the Hahn Street development.

First on the agenda, the Council will recognize the Ruth Strand Poster Contest winners (Elmhurst Heritage Foundation) and the Star Educator Awards (Elmhurst Children's Assistance Foundation).

The public will then be invited to speak on any topic for up to three minutes.

In addition to minutes and accounts payable, the consent agenda will include the following items for approval:

  • reappointment of Barbara Riekse Schau to the Elmhurst Economic Development Commission
  • reallocation of funds for the 2013 sanitary sewer program. The city budgeted $40,000 for the overhead sewer program, whereby the city participates with private property owners to install overhead sewers at a 50/50 cost sharing, up to $5,000 per household. The demand is exceeding the budgeted amount due to recent rains; 77 residents have requested them. The Public Works Committee is recommending the city increase the fund by $150,000, the expected surplus from the sanitary sewer lining fund.
  • concrete pavement patching contract with Addison Concrete in the amount of $128,000
  • asphalt rejuvenating treatment contract with Denler Inc. for $37,800
  • purchase of an industrial log chipper, two Ford Explorers and a Ford F250 4x4 pickup truck and 13 Motorola digital dual band radios
  • fire hydrant materials purchase from Mid-American Water for $83,000
  • Churchville Charger fund-raiser, which will be based on the reality show Amazing Race and held in the downtown area Aug. 24
  • workforce management/time and attendance system contract with Executime in the amount of $35,500
  • water and sewer rate study by Baxter and Woodman for $28,000
  • use of line of credit to fund projects in the north York Road TIF
  • professional services agreement with Carl Warren & Co. for third-party claims administration at a cost of $35,120
  • zoning text amendment regarding outdoor storage for landscape contractors
  • Brickman conditional use at 727 N. Church Road for the purpose of operating a landscape contracting business
  • sale by auction of city property (seized vehicles)
  • sublease extension agreement with Pilot Pete's
  • intergovernmental agreement with the Elmhurst Park District regarding tax allocation in the North York Road TIF
The Council will then hear any updates from Mayor Steve Morley, City Manager Jim Grabowski will provide an update on the stormwater mitigation open house meetings, and Assistant City Manager Mike Kopp will discuss a draft request for proposals for the Hahn Street project.

City Council meets at City Hall, 209 N. York Street.
