City Council Will Be Asked to Approve Bids for Street Work, New Stop Signs, York Stadium Ordinance

Public is welcome to speak at tonight's meeting.

Elmhurst City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, at City Hall, 209 N. York St.

Members of the public will be invited to speak on any topic for up to three minutes.

Public forum will be followed by a vote on the consent agenda. In addition to approval of meeting minutes and accounts payable, consent agenda items include approval of:

  • Generator replacement at the Elmhurst Waste Water Treatment Plant. The Public Works and Buildings Committee is recommending the City Council accept a bid of $320,000 from Newcastle Electric Inc. for removal and replacement of the dual fuel generator.
  • Asphalt rejuvenating treatment contract. Public Works and Buildings Committee is recommending the City Council accept a bid of $45,500 from CAM LLC. Reclamite, a preservative seal, will be applied to about 70,000 square yards of pavement in the city, including many of the streets that are receiving a new asphalt surface in 2011. Reclamite extends the life of the asphalt.
  • Concrete pavement patching contract. Public Works and Buildings Committee is recommending the City Council accept a bid of $105,350 from Kings Point LLC. The work includes removal and replacement of deteriorated concrete pavement, curb and gutter at various locations throughout the city.
  • A stop sign request at Rex Boulevard and Montrose Avenue, and at Rex and Vallette Street
  • An additional classification of liquor license. The city is creating a new classification of liquor license, Class RPDL, which is geared for Angelo's Ristorante. The license authorizes the consumption of alcohol in the restaurant, consumption of beer and wine in the deli next door to the restaurant, and consumption of liquor at the banquet facility during special occasions. The fee for the license in 2011 is $4,950.
  • A request from Immaculate Conception High School to hang banners on the street lights around the school to commemorate the its 75th anniversary
  • An ordinance authorizing the sale by auction of city property: a 2004 Cadillac Escalade SUV, a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire and a 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis.
  • An ordinance authorizing a license agreement between Immaculate Conception Church and the city for a block party
  • An ordinance granting a conditional use permit for
  • A resolution modifying an agreement between and the city of Elmhurst. The modified agreement will allow the city to continue to provide fire protection and ambulance services to residents in the area south of Grand Avenue until Oct. 31, or until negotiations for a new agreement with the district are completed.

The consent agenda will be followed by reports from the mayor and other elected officials.
