Busload of Elmhurst College Students Miss Inauguration, But the Trip Was Worth it, They Said

They drove all night to witness history. Mission accomplished.

ABC7 News was at the scene as dozens of Elmhurst College students boarded a bus Sunday night, headed for Washington, D.C. Arrival time was scheduled at 7:30 a.m. Monday, then they would take a 3.5-mile walk to get to the swearing in.

ABC7 spoke to several of the students about their reasons for making the grueling trip. Read what they had to say here.

But the 56 students arrived late, just as President Obama was finishing his speech, the Chicago Tribune is reporting. They missed the music, the invocation and the oath of office, but they had no regrets.

Abraham Mulberry, freshman political science and philosophy major and president of the Elmhurst College College Democrats of Illinois had this to say in the Chicago Tribune article:

"All this history in one place builds up, and you understand how big of a deal all this really is. You realize this will be a moment that you can look back on and tell your kids, 'I was there.' "

What did they miss? The king, *cough* president, swearing he will uphold the constitution? Did he uphold it the last four years? NO! The whole thing is meaningless.
