You'll Shoot Your Eye Out: Cops Say Bratty Kid Tried Stealing BB Gun From Elmhurst Kmart

Due to his tender age, the boy was released to his father without being charged, police said.

A boy caught trying to steal a BB gun from the Elmhurst Kmart gave a security guard a hard time and then lied to the cops, police said.

Despite all of this bad behavior, the Elmhurst police said they chose not to charge the 12-year-old with anything due to his age.

The kid started acting up about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

Officers were sent to the Route 83 superstore to investigate a report of a child "stuffing a BB gun into his jacket," police said.

"He was with several other young kids and when loss prevention asked (the youth) to come to him, (the boy) immediately began giving him a problem," police said.

"He was brought to the station and was untruthful with officers," police said. "His father picked him up and due to his age he was released without charges."
