Women Suffer 'Blackouts,' Illness After Man Buys Them Beer, Alleged Gang Members Cited at Cemetery

Elmhurst police also report multiple alcohol and drug arrests.

Suspicious Circumstances

A woman told police she was celebrating her 21st birthday at Fitz's Pub, 172 N. Addison, when she met a man who tried to get her to leave with him several times between 11 p.m. April 12 and 1 a.m. April 13. At last call, the man offered to buy her a beer. She accepted and followed him to the bar. She and her friend quickly finished the beer because the bar was closing. She walked outside and said she blacked out and does not remember anything that happened after leaving the bar. She was sick for two days and assumed it was from drinking, until her friend who shared the beer told her she also had blacked out and had the same symptoms. Complaints will be signed pending further investigation.

DUI Arrests

Richard P. Scardina II, 24, 6185 Wildwood Lane, Burr Ridge, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over his tan Lexus for improper lane use at York and Quincy at 1:13 a.m. April 13. He was released on bond.

David J. Locklin, 39, 187 N. Larch, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without insurance after police pulled over his silver Hyundai Elantra for improper lane use, failure to signal and speeding at York and Brush Hill at 3:40 a.m. April 13. He was released on I-bond.

Andrew Poch, 28, 2 E. Erie St., Chicago, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over his gray Acura TL for improper lane use at St. Charles and Poplar at 1:29 a.m. April 14. He was released on I-bond.

Anthony Heredia, 20, 1719 Keating, Glendale Heights, was arrested for DUI and underage consumption of alcohol after his silver Honda Odyssey was pulled over for driving on two flat tires at Lake and Walnut at 3:03 a.m. April 14. A passenger in his vehicle, James Alejandro, 19, 110 Evergreen, Glendale Heights, was charged with underage consumption of alcohol. Both were released on bond.

Gregory Potoglou, 24, 714 Benton, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with DUI and DUI-drugs after police pulled over his silver Chevrolet Cavalier for failure to signal at York and Wilson at 3:53 a.m. April 15. He allegedly admitted to drinking and smoking cannabis. He was released on bond.

Possession of a Controlled Substance

Sammy J. Rivera, 27, 1824 Elmwood Ave., Berwyn, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) after police pulled over his black Chevrolet Cobalt for speeding at St. Charles and Holly at 5:23 a.m. April 13. He also was charged with driving without a license. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Hope Morgan, 19, 200 Lakewood Circle, Burr Ridge, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug equipment at 2:21 p.m. April 16, at Elmhurst College, 190 Prospect Ave., after a complainant told police she received an anonymous email message about a girl in Niebuhr Hall using drugs. Morgan allegedly admitted using drugs and turned over a bag containing paraphernalia and suspect crack cocaine. She was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Battery

Benedicto Vasquez, 36, 939 N. York Road, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with battery after an incident at Virginia and Diversey at 6:15 p.m. April 11. Subsequent to the battery, Vasquez was involved in an accident with a vehicle driven by Gener Marroquin, 29, 1051 Ferrari Apt. 1B, Bensenville. Vasquez was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving without a license and driving without insurance. Marroquin was cited for driving with a suspended license, expired registration sticker and driving without insurance.

Harassment

A woman told police at 9 a.m. April 16 that she and her employer had received more than 100 phone calls from a suspect stating she owes money from a cash loan she took out in September 2011. The victim said she never took out a cash loan, but the suspect continued to call and became hostile and aggressive. Police attempted to contact the suspect, but received only an automated greeting for Disney Club Cards.

Man Arrested Twice for Public Intoxication

Vincent F. Sabo, 48, 1940 Elmwood Ave., Berwyn, was arrested and charged with public intoxication after he was found sleeping in front of 125 S. Prospect Ave. at 12:05 p.m. April 13. He was taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital and his 750 ml bottle of vodka was confiscated. The next morning, at 9 a.m. April 14, Sabo was arrested again for disorderly conduct after police found him intoxicated and in possession of alcohol on public property at 148 E. Third St. He was again taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.

Possession of Alcohol in Public

Police cited seven people for drinking alcohol at Elm Lawn Cemetery, 401 E. Lake St., at 6:22 p.m. April 15. They allegedly told police they were Latin Kings gang members and were visiting a deceased gang member. Addresses were not given for six of the subjects; cited were Daniel Rodriguez, 25, 2711 W. Christiana, Chicago; Benjamine Ochoa, 21; Luis Gonzales, 21; Richard Astorga, 22; Cynthia Villeta, 19; Amanga Martinez, 22; and Aileen Alvarez, 22. They all were released on I-bond.

Disorderly Conduct

Ashur Sadah, 28, 5855 N. Campbell Apt. 2, Chicago, was cited for disorderly conduct after he was seen urinating in the parking lot of the Waverton Hotel, 624 N. York Road, at 1:47 a.m. April 15. He was released at the scene on I-bond.

Warrant Arrests

Marcus Miller, 52, 195 S. Villa Ave. Apt. 10, Addison, was arrested on a warrant out of Villa Park for retail theft after police pulled over his black Toyota Camry for speeding at York and Interstate 290 at 7:12 p.m. April 10. He was picked up by Villa Park police.

Anthony R. Gordon, 24, 1022 S. 10th, Maywood, turned himself in on a warrant out of DuPage County for failure to appear on a DUI charge at 11:10 a.m. April 12. He was released on bond.

Jose Antonio Ramos Jr., 25, 2108 N. 74th Court, Elmwood Park, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and driving without insurance after police pulled him over at Berteau and North at 2:10 p.m. April 14. Police discovered he had a warrant for failure to appear on a driving with a suspended license charge. He was released on bond.

John Morales, 48, 929 S. Cambridge, Elmhurst, was arrested on a failure to appear warrant out of DuPage County on the 100 block of East Brush Hill Road at 12:30 a.m. April 15. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Jesse J. Clark, 18, 650 Willow Road, Elmhurst, turned himself in on a warrant for retail theft and posted the required cash bond at 7:59 p.m. April 15. However, he had an additional warrant out of DuPage County for failure to appear, for which he was unable to post bond. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.
