Windows Smashed, Cars Damaged, and Eggs and Paintballs Fired at Houses

Property damage reports from March 15 through April 15.

Someone broke the post of a mailbox on the 1000 block of Prospect between 7 p.m. March 16 and 9 a.m. March 17.

Someone broke several wooden spindles on the front wooden porch of a home on the 300 block of East St. Charles Road at 3 a.m. March 18. The victim's step-daughter was home with friends when she heard a noise and saw two males running from the home. Beer cans were found on the ground.

Someone spray-painted the north wall of the Salt Creek Bridge at St. Charles Road. An officer noticed the damage while on bicycle patrol at 8:07 a.m. March 20.

Someone broke the window on the north side of a garage on the 700 block of South Mitchell between 9 p.m. March 23 and 8:15 p.m. March 24, possibly in an attempt to enter the garage. Nothing appeared to be missing.

Someone broke a window of a classroom at Conrad Fischer School, 888 Wilson, between 2:30 and 11 p.m. March 29. Damage is estimated at $1,500.

A resident of the 100 block of North Avon reported that at midnight March 31, her daughter received a phone call from a suspect who was yelling, calling her names and telling her to come outside and fight. A short time later, she heard girls yelling outside and glass breaking. A bedroom window had been broken; damage is estimated at $200.

A resident of the 600 block of South Hillside Avenue was awoken to the sound of an egg hitting the side of the house at 12:02 a.m. March 31. She looked outside and saw a dark car idling in the street. Someone yelled out the window "I have your license plate," and the vehicle drove off. The resident said her daughter has been bullied at York High School.

While on patrol at 1:25 a.m. March 31, a police officer noticed the glass exterior doors at Community Bank of Elmhurst, 133 N. York Road, had been shattered. The second set of doors were unlocked. Police searched the building and did not find anything disturbed. A witness said she saw a man with a shaved head break the door and run down Schiller into Commerce Parkway. Damage is estimated at $500.

Someone smashed out the rear window of a vehicle parked on the 300 block of West Alexander between 10:30 and 11:55 p.m. March 31. Damage is estimated at $400.

Two juveniles were seen shooting a toy gun at the windows of a home on the 400 block of North Highland at 6:34 p.m. April 1. The windows that were targeted were cracked and broken. Parents of the juveniles agreed to pay for the damages.

Someone keyed the rear passenger side fender of a 2011 Ford Fiesta while it was parked on the 400 block of Avery April 3. Damage is estimated at $500.

Someone shot paintballs at a home on the 200 block of North Maple at 9:20 p.m. April 6. The homeowner's video surveillance captured a light colored sedan, but the license plate was not visible. Someone also shot paintballs at a home on the 200 block of North Oak at about the same time, causing damage to the siding.

A car parked at a home on the 100 block of Lawndale was egged at 10:45 p.m. April 6. Police issued a ticket to a female suspect, who's name was not released. She was released on I-bond at the scene.

A resident of the 300 block of Highview told police someone threw eggs at her home between noon and 10 p.m. April 6. She said this has happened twice before.

Someone punctured the gas tanks on two work vans parked at Heights Glass and Mirror, 420 W. Wrightwood Ave., between 2:30 p.m. April 6 and 6:30 a.m. April 9. The tanks were empty and there was a strong odor of gasoline in the area they were parked.

Someone attempted to break into an Oldsmobile Cutlass while it was parked in a driveway on the 300 block of Ridgeland between 8:45 and 10 p.m. April 10. The owner noticed damage to the driver side door handle.

A school custodian reported at 11:29 a.m. April 13 that someone had broken a window of a school on the 100 block of Arthur Street causing about $450 in damage. The custodian also found beer bottles and cigarette butts outside the window.

Someone slashed the two rear tires on a Ford Focus parked on the 600 block of Berkley between 8 p.m. April 14 and 8 a.m. April 15. Damage is estimated at $300.
