Windows Broken in Homes, Vehicles as Property Damage Reports Come In

Someone smashed out the rear window of a vehicle parked on the driveway of a home on the 900 block of Cedar between 10:30 p.m. May 13 and 7:30 a.m. May 14. A smashed beer bottle was found on the ground behind the vehicle. Nothing appeared to be missing. Damage is estimated at $200.

Someone used a rock to break out the rear window of a vehicle parked on the 100 block of West Armitage between 8:30 p.m. May 14 and 9:30 a.m. May 15. Damage is estimated at $400.

Eggs and mayonnaise were smeared on the windows and both sides of the doors of a home on the 300 block of South Fair between March 30 and May 15. The home is unoccupied and for sale.

A classroom window at Emerson School, 400 N. West Ave., was damaged between 8 p.m. May 16 and 7:15 p.m. May 17. Only the interior pane of glass was damaged and there was no sign of forced entry.

A golf ball was thrown through a bedroom window of a home on the 100 block of Lawndale Avenue at 3:30 a.m. May 19. The resident heard the sound of glass breaking and found her 13-year-old daughter in her bed "covered in glass," police said. The golf ball was found in the room. Police have no suspects and neighbors didn't see anything.

Someone wrote "SLEk" and "JARS" in pink spray paint on a ComEd transformer box at Grace and Elm Park between 9 a.m. May 20 and 7:55 a.m. May 23. Damage is estimated at $30.

Someone broke a van window and spray-painted the east wall of a church on the 300 block of East Belden between May 20 and 1:45 p.m. May 26. Damage is estimated at $500.

Someone broke a large window of a business on the 100 block of West Vallette between 4 p.m. May 26 and 6:49 a.m. May 27. Entry was not gained, but damage is estimated at $800 to $1,000.
