Wheaton Man Attempts Escape After Arrest for Retail Theft in Elmhurst

Also, wallet stolen from employee locker at Portillo's and tires stolen off of nine rental vehicles.

Retail Theft Arrest

Robert Q. Gorman, 23, 703 W. Liberty, Wheaton, was arrested and charged with retail theft after he allegedly took items from a store on the 200 block of South Route 83 at 7:43 p.m. Dec. 29. Police did not specify what was taken. As officers placed him into the police car, he attempted to escape on foot, police said. He was apprehended a short time later and charged with escape (a felony) and resisting a peace officer, and obstructing identification. He was taken to DuPage County Jail and held on $5,000 bond.

Jeraldine Lee-Campbell, 53, 4233 W. Augusta Blvd. Unit 1, Chicago, was arrested and charged wtih retail theft after she allegedly took $120.49 worth of clothing from a store on the 300 block of Route 83 and left without paying at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 29. She was released on I-bond.


A black leather wallet containing a drivers license, debit card, insurance card and $8 was taken from an unlocked locker in an employee locker room at Portillo's, 155 S. Route 83, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Dec. 23.

Someone removed multiple spare tires off of rental vehicles parked at Enterprise Leasing, 896 N. York, between 9 p.m. Dec. 28 and 6:45 a.m. Dec. 29. The tires were taken from nine vehicles and were worth between $250 and $500.
