Vandals Leave Calling Card at Elmhurst College Tennis Courts

Damage discovered after long Thanksgiving weekend.

A member of the maintenance staff at Elmhurst College discovered at about 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, that someone had seriously damaged the campus tennis courts on Park Avenue east of Myrtle.

The employee told Elmhurst police that the damage must have occurred sometime after 8 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21.

Police said one or more people entered the locked, fenced tennis court area and knocked over and bent the plastic and metal bleachers. Metal tennis posts were pulled out of the asphalt and thrown near the railroad tracks, and the wind screen was torn to pieces, according to a police report.

Damage is estimated at $1,200.
