Underaged DUI Driver Faces Multiple Charges After Crash, and 12-year-old Sees Stranger on Porch

Also, police report thefts of a cell phone, air bag, iPod, laptop and more.

DUI Arrest
Alysa C. Kuhn, 20, 500 Greenview Court, Oswego, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, consumption of alcohol by a minor, driving without a license, driving without insurance, suspended registration, leaving the scene of an accident and improper lane use after she was involved in an accident at Route 83 and North Avenue at 5:58 a.m. Feb. 28. She was released on I-bond.

Warrant Arrest
Julian E. Brandon, 32, 1365 N. Hudson Apt. 3, Chicago, was arrested on a warrant out of Cook County for contempt of court after police responded to a disturbance at Extended Stay America, 550 W. Grand, at 6:10 a.m. Feb. 27. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Theft Arrest
Jakub Walkowicz, 18, 424 N. Iowa, Villa Park, was arrested and charged with retail theft after he allegedly took a bottle of rum and chicken wings from Dominick's, 215 S. Route 83, at 12:51 p.m. Feb. 28. He also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of open alcohol. He was released on I-bond.

Suspicious Person
A 12-year-old on the 600 block of South Hawthorne heard her dogs bark at 9:25 p.m. Feb. 28 and saw a suspicious person wearing a gray sweatshirt on the porch. The subject was not located.

Theft
Someone took a $500 AT&T cell phone from a person sitting in an aisle seat at the York High School auditorium, 355 W. St. Charles Road, between 7:15 and 9 p.m. Feb. 23.

A woman pushing a baby in a stroller managed to leave Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, with $153 worth of merchandise that she didn't pay for Feb. 24. Between 3:25 and 4:16 p.m., security officers watched the woman take sleepwear, skirts and shirts, go through the checkout line, pay for one item and leave the store. When she got to her car, a black Mercury Milan, she placed all of the items in her trunk, then failed to secure the infant before driving away.

Two hand-held scanners, a prison-approved television, a 16-inch gold necklace with a gold cross pendant and 37 bags of de-icer were taken from a home between Nov. 15 and Feb. 9. Police said the victim believes the items were disposed of at a local pawn shop. There was no sign of forced entry and police did not release the address.

Someone stole an airbag from the steering wheel of a vehicle at Howard Buick, 364 W. Grand Ave., between 9:30 p.m. Feb. 25 and 7:30 a.m. Feb. 27.

A resident of the 400 block of South York reported that someone used his Social Security number to obtain a fraudulent tax refund from the IRS and used his wife's credit card number to purchase a copy of a credit report. The Federal Trace Commission is investigating. The report was made at 6:55 p.m. Feb. 27.

An Apple iPod worth $150 and $200 prescription sunglasses were taken from a desk at an office at 188 Industrial Drive between 8 p.m. Feb. 27 and 10 a.m. Feb. 28.

Someone smashed the passenger window of a 2010 Ford Fusion parked at 688 W. North Ave. between 6:15 and 7:20 p.m. Feb. 28 and removed a laptop computer in a black nylon case. The rear driver side window on a silver Saturn parked at the same location also was smashed during the same time period. A black suitcase containing clothing was taken.
