Two Elmhurst Homes Ransacked, Burglarized Over the Weekend

Thieves got away with cash and jewelry.

Two Elmhurst homes were burglarized over the weekend, according to police reports.

The residents of a home on the 300 block of East Madison Street returned home after a trip out of town to find many rooms, drawers and closets ransacked. A gold wedding ring that was in a safe was among the items stolen. The burglary occurred sometime between 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, and 12:05 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21.

According to the report, the thieves managed to force open a dead-bolted door.

On Sunday, Sept. 22, the residents of a condominium on the 200 block of West Brush Hill came home to find the premises in "complete disarray," according to a police report. Taken were cash, a watch, iPod and assorted jewelry. The burglary occurred sometime between 2 and 6:30 p.m.
