Top of the Blotter: Vodka at the Library And More

The following arrest information was supplied by the Elmhurst Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Public Intoxication
William Jensen, 45, 400 block of Van Auken Street, was charged with public intoxication after police found him asleep in a chair at the Elmhurst Public Library with a partially consumed bottle of vodka at his feet around 6:40 p.m. on May 27. He was released on bond.

Disorderly Conduct
A resident in the 200 block of North Avenue reported receiving 22 text messages in less than an hour on May 26 and called police after seeing the person responsible for the message standing outside around 10:45 p.m. The resident reported more texts from the same person on May 28. No arrests were reported.

Derek D. Menke, 23, of Lombard, was charged with disorderly conduct after an officer reportedly saw him urinating in the doorway of a theater in the 100 block of North York Road around 1 a.m. on May 27. Menke was released on bond.

Suspicious Activity
A resident in the 300 block of Alexander Boulevard reported finding a sliding glass door open and off its track around 8:30 p.m. on May 21. No arrests were reported.

Identity Theft
A resident in the 100 block of Grantley Avenue reported on May 27 that someone set up a "ghost" email account to gain access to their actual email account, a move which resulted in unwanted solicitation phone calls. No arrests were reported.

A resident in the 600 block of West Lorraine Avenue reported to police that between November 2010 and May 28 someone used their social security number to open a cell phone account with a $2,200 overdue balance. The resident called police after a collection agency called seeking payment. No arrests were reported.

Theft
Brandon L. Martinez, 21, of Lombard, and Sean K. Burke, 21, of Villa Park, were each charged with theft after they attempted to leave a bar in the 100 block of North Addison Avenue for attempting to put $49 in alcohol on someone else's tab around 1:30 a.m. on May 29. Burke was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were released on bond.

A teen playing basketball at Pioneer Park around 7:15 p.m. on May 30 reported he saw a teenage girl, who appeared to be "high," near his car. He later realized his wallet was missing. No arrests were reported.

Battery
Police were called to Charlie's Bar and Grill, 122 S. York Road, around 12:30 a.m. on May 29 on a report of a battery involving a dispute over a patron cutting in line to use the restroom. Police made no arrests due to "conflicting stories."

Drugs
Frank DiBenedetto, 53, of Elmhurst, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and failure to signal on May 24 as part of a multi-jurisdictional police operation called "Heroin Highway." The operation targeted suburban residents traveling to Chicago to by drugs and resulted in several arrests, police said.

Underage Drinking
Eric Schoen, 18, of the 900 block of Bryan Street, was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor after police responded to a report of an argument at his home on May 28.

Resisting Arrest
Danko Hernandez, 21, of Northlake, was charged with resisting a peace officer, obstructing identification and failure to wear a seat belt following a traffic stop around 4 a.m. on May 28 near Route 83 and Second Street. Hernandez reportedly gave police a fake name and birth date during the stop and then ran into the woods to get away from police. He was later found and it was determined he had outstanding warrants for aggravated discharge of a firearm and driving with a suspended license. He was taken into custody by Northlake police.
