Charges are pending against a 22-year-old Elmhurst man after police responded on July 25 to a report of a reckless driving complaint. Officers spoke to the man’s father, who said his son was acting strange and claiming he had been chased and shot at. Police determined that had not happened, but that the man left his vehicle somewhere and stole a bike to ride home instead.

Vandalism

A resident in the 100 block of Van Buren reported to police that someone had thrown garbage on his vehicle’s windshield sometime between 8 and 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 1. He told police does not have any problems with anyone in the neighborhood or at work. Police have no suspects.

Deceptive Practice

An employee at Visitation Parish reported a man came in on July 25 to purchase $850 in gift cards used for a tuition discount program. The man paid with a check, which subsequently bounced because the account was closed. Police learned the man had done the same thing at other parishes. Police were unable to immediately locate the man.
