Top of the Blotter: Thefts From YMCA Locker Room
Reports from the Elmhurst Police Department.
Elmhurst police have reported at least four thefts from lockers at the YMCA, located at 211 W. First St., in the last week.
- A man reported on July 27 that someone cut the lock on his locker at the YMCA just before 6 p.m. and took $200. The man reportedly saw two teenagers approach his locker before the theft. Bolt cutters and the broken lock were recovered by police.
- Someone unsuccessfully tried to break a lock securing a locker at the YMCA between 8 p.m. on July 26 and 6:15 p.m. on July 27, police reported.
- Just after 8 p.m. on July 27, someone removed a lock from a locker at the YMCA to take a Sony digital camera and a pair of Nike sandals. Total value of the items was approximately $235, police said.
- Police arrested a juvenile male after a report of a stolen cell phone at the YMCA on July 30 between 6 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. The boy was released to his mother, with charges pending.
