Top of the Blotter: Sandwiches and a Gun, Landlord-Tenant Dispute and More

The following arrest information was supplied by the Elmhurst Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Armed and Hungry
Police questioned and released a man found with a handgun at a sandwich shop in the 200 block of North York Road around 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 3. A woman at the restaurant with her kids reported seeing the man with a gun in his waistband. The man identified himself as a private detective and showed paperwork that allows him to carry the gun during certain hours related to his job. He was released without charges.

Landlord-Tenant Dispute
A woman called police on Aug. 2 to report her landlord had locked her out an apartment in the 800 block of North Lombard as she was moving out. When she was able to re-enter, she reported a lap top, TV, video game system and a box of miscellaneous items were missing. The landlord denied taking anything. The case was referred to investigations.

Alegria told police he had been drinking prior to coming to pick up his vehicle, which was being serviced. He was released on an I-Bond.
