Police were called to Elmhurst Hospital around 4 a.m. on Dec. 21 on a report of three adults who came into the emergency room with a young girl. The adults claimed to be the child’s grandparents and aunt, and said the girl was ill. Hospital officials said the girl had no detectable injuries and appeared in good health. When the hospital official asked to do a CAT scan, which would require the parents’ permission, the two older adults said they would get the mother. A short time later, the woman who said she was the aunt left the hospital with the girl.
