Three Very Large Vehicles Taken from Lots on Industrial Drive Over the Past Week
One of them, a purple Kenworth, was found drained of hundreds of gallons of fuel.
Some very large vehicles have been stolen in Elmhurst recently.
A 53-foot refrigerated semi-trailer was taken from a storage yard at AIM National Lease, 782 Industrial Drive, between 1 p.m. Aug. 16 and 6 a.m. Aug. 17.
A purple 2000 Kenworth semi-tractor was taken from a lot on the 700 block of Industrial Drive between 1:30 p.m. Aug. 18 and 1:30 p.m. Aug. 19. The victim told police the lock on another trailer he owned that was parked next to the Kenworth also was tampered with.
A 2013 Kenworth tractor was taken from 772 N. Industrial Drive at 9:06 p.m. Aug. 21. A global positioning system located the vehicle in Chicago. Ten tires and rims had been removed and replaced with "extremely used" tires and rims, police said. The tractor's fuel tank was reportedly drained of about 200 gallons of diesel fuel.
