Thousands of Dollars Stolen From Elmhurst Home, Dine and Dash at Buffalo Wild Wings

Also, hedge trimmer swiped while man worked in back yard, and men's shirts stolen from vehicle.

Elmhurst police reported several instances of theft between Nov. 1 and 3:

An employee at Buffalo Wild Wings, 149 N. York Road, told police that two women left without paying their $44.66 bill at 10:29 p.m. Nov. 1. Police will examine surveillance video.

Someone stole two packs of cigarettes and some CDs from a vehicle parked on the 1200 block of York Road between 9:32 and 10:52 p.m. Nov. 1.

Someone removed tools, a laptop computer, garage remote control and tax records from an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway on the 300 block of North Kenilworth Avenue between 7 p.m. Nov. 2 and 6:47 a.m. Nov. 3.

A resident on the 300 block of Eggleston noticed that thousands of dollars was taken from his home between Nov. 1 and 3. A small tub in his closet had been turned over and $200 was missing. His daughter said $2,400 was missing from an envelope she kept in her room, and another daughter said her bank was missing from her bedroom. The resident suspects a neighbor who has been at the house and is believed to have a drug problem.

Someone took a 6-foot, orange and white Stihl hedge trimmer from the parkway of a home on the 100 block of Elm Tree Lane between 9 and 9:30 a.m. Oct. 31. The victim said he went to the back yard to cut some brush, and when he returned, the trimmer was gone.

Someone stole a wallet from an unlocked vehicle in an unlocked garage on the 600 block of West Thomas Street between 9 p.m. Nov. 2 and 8:05 a.m. Nov. 3. The wallet contained a drivers license, debit card and $60.

A resident of the 400 block of East Park Avenue told police two iPods were taken from a dresser in her home between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. April 27. The incident was reported. Nov. 3. The victim said she suspects the man who cleaned her carpets.

Someone took a garment bag containing four mens multi-colored shirts valued at $250 from a 2011 Cadillac CTS parked at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller St. at 4:50 p.m. Nov. 3. The driver side rear window was left partially open and the bag was hanging on the hook by the window. Police will examine surveillance video.
