Teens Smash Out Concessions Stand Window, Guard Rails Stolen, and Dine and Dash at Buffalo Wild Wings

Someone entered a business on the first block of North Addison and removed a 2004 HP laptop Notebook computer and a white garbage bag between 4:30 p.m. July 15 and 7:30 a.m. July 16. There was no sign of forced entry, and the front door of the business was unlocked.

A man in his early 20s drove up to the rear gate of RG Construction, 936 Larch Ave., and cut the gate with bolt cutters at 12:43 a.m. July 8. The suspect removed 50 aluminum scaffolding guard rails valued at $1,250. He was wearing dark clothing and drove up in a 1990s Jeep Cherokee.

A resident of the 300 block of West Elm Park Avenue told police he regularly goes to Dominick’s, 215 S. Route 83, to deposit money into his PayPower Reloadit debit card. He attempted to make a large deposit on July 13 and discovered his balance was only $534; he expected it to be $1,800.

Someone broke out the driver side window of a vehicle parked at York Commons Park, 657 S. York Road, between 6 and 7 p.m. July 14 and took a portable DVD player valued at $200.

A man about 18 to 20 years old left without paying his bill after an incident at Buffalo Wild Wings, 149 N. York St., at 9:45 p.m. July 14. The store manager told police the suspect came up to the counter to dispute his bill. Meanwhile, the other people that had been sitting at the table with him left without paying. The man said he did not know their names nor how to contact them, and he was only going to pay his portion of the bill, which was $8.09. The manager said he was going to call the police, and the suspect fled northbound on York Road. He was not found.

Someone smashed out the front passenger side window of a vehicle parked at Berens Park, 390 W. Gladys, between 3:45 and 4 p.m. July 16. Taken was a Brighton straw bag valued at $150, containing a wallet, drivers license, credit cards, social security card, checkbook, $60 and two checks totaling $250 made out to cash. At the same time at the Berens lot, another vehicle was broken into in the same manner. Taken was a black leather purse with a red wallet, drivers license, credit cards, checkbook, an endorsed company check in the amount of $300 and an endorsed payroll check. An $800 camera was untouched in the car. Damage to the window is estimated at $300.

A woman who was catering an event at Wilder Mansion, 211 S. Prospect Ave., told police someone entered her locked vehicle and removed her black Coach purse containing numerous credit cards, a digital camera and $900 in cash at 3 p.m. July 16. The suspect did not take her laptop, which was laying where the purse was. The victim said she had left her window open a crack.

Someone stole a Navistar International DayCab truck tractor from Aim National Lease, 782 N. Industrial Ave. between 8 and 11 p.m. July 13. The truck had just been serviced with 10 new tires. The key is still accounted for, and surveillance video is being examined.

Someone entered several unlocked vehicles on the 100 block of East Oneida Avenue and ransacked them between 11:30 p.m. July 16 and 12:30 a.m. July 17.

Someone stole four catalytic converters worth $5,700 from four vehicles parked on the 300 block of west Grand Avenue between 3 p.m. July 16 and 8:32 a.m. July 18.

A woman while visiting her son’s grave at Mount Emblem Cemetery, 520 E. Grand Ave., noticed that the bronze vase attached to his headstone was missing. She also noticed the vase from the next plot over also was missing. Cost to replace them is $400. It is estimated the vases were stolen between Oct. 1, 2010, and 3 p.m. July 18.

A group of four teens was brought to the police station after $1,500 worth of damage was done when a concessions stand at Salt Creek Park, 574 W. Second St., was broken into at 6:45 p.m. July 18. Police said the window of the concessions stand at the baseball field had been broken out, and one of the teens had crawled inside the building and taken two locks and two keys. A 15-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl were released to their parents pending a station adjustment, and the other two were released without charges.

An unidentified teen-age boy took a BB gun from a package at Kmart, 265 S. Route 83, at 10:27 a.m. July 19 and left the store without paying.

Someone stole six snow blowers from a trailer located behind Nick’s Power Equipment, 446 N. York Road, between 6:30 and 7:15 a.m. July 18. Loss is estimated at $2,765.

Someone stole a bike from the bike rack at East End Pool, 463 Schiller St., between 6:30 and 7:50 p.m. July 20. The bike, a Scott Sub 40 men’s, dark gray with a white seat, is valued at $548.90.

A man reported stole about $200 worth of perfume from Kmart, 265 S. Route 83, at 3:06 p.m. July 21. He fled in an orange Honda hatchback northbound on Route 83. He was last seen at an apartment complex in Glendale Heights, but he could not be located.

Someone removed three cell phones left on a chair at East End Pool, 463 E. Schiller St., at 6:30 p.m. July 21.
