Teens Shoot at People with BB Gun and Woman Forges Check for $3,400

Battery and disorderly conduct also reported by Elmhurst between July 20 and 25.

Battery Arrest

Melissa Barnes, 30, 3902 Jackson, Bellwood, was arrested and charged with battery after an incident at Citgo, 218 E. Butterfield, at 6:34 p.m. July 22. Barnes allegedly poked and slapped a man. She was also served a no-trespass order for Citgo. She was released on bond.

A male victim reported to police that he was beaten by three young men and a young woman while riding his bicycle home at 1:50 a.m. July 24. He said the suspects kept driving their vehicle in front of him and provoking him. The victim said he got off of his bicycle because he thought it was his friends playing a joke on him. The offenders got out of the vehicle and began beating him, resulting in a cut on his forearm, a swollen nose and a bump on his forehead. The left in a black, newer model sedan, possibly a Honda. Police did not release the location of the incident, and they had no suspects at the time of the report.

Frank A. Catalano, 26, 182 W. Church St., was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct/public intoxication after police responded to a report of a suspicious person knocking loudly on a door at 139 Cottage Hill at 2:22 a.m. July 23. When police arrived, they reportedly found Catalano passed out on the front doorstep. He was released on I-bond.

Two 17-year-old boys were arrested and charged under city ordinance with disorderly conduct for endangering people, and illegal discharge of a firearm after an incident at Spring and Eggleston at 9:13 p.m. July 24. Police received a call for teenagers driving around shooting a BB gun at people. Police stopped the red Hummer H3 they were driving and found the BB gun and BBs during a search. They were released to their mothers on I-bond.

Deceptive Practice

Sherrice M. Weeks, 30, 4015 W. Arlington, Chicago, was arrested and charged with felony forgery and resisting arrest after she reportedly presented a forged check at Fifth Third Bank, 105 S. York St., at 5:40 p.m. July 25. The bank teller called 911, the transaction went through and Weeks reportedly left the bank with $3,400 in cash. Officers were waiting for her outside. She fled but was stopped and taken to DuPage County Jail.

Suspicious Circumstances

A resident of the 500 block of North Indiana Street told police she received a phone call at 3 p.m. July 20 from a man who said he was a special agent, and that he had an arrest warrant for her because she illegally imported prescription drugs from the Dominican Republic. The caller told her if she did not sent him $1,500 in the next hour, he would come to her house with a search warrant. She hung up on him and conducted an Internet search on the phone number. Several scam complaints with similar descriptions were found.
