Teens Say They Were Trying to Find the Prairie Path When Found in an Alley at Vallette, Edgewood

Elmhurst police report domestic battery, DUI and prowling arrests.

Domestic Battery

Christopher D. LaBonte, 21, 315 Kimbell Ave. Apt. 10, was arrested and charged with domestic battery at his apartment at 2:45 a.m. Aug. 12. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Edward Heward-Mills, 41, 811 W. 15th Place, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane use, driving without insurance and driving with an obstructed view after police pulled over his red Volvo at 2:42 a.m. Aug. 13 at York and Crestview. He was released on bond.

Marco Cardenas, 30, 1212 34th St., Melrose Park, was arrested and charged with DUI, having open alcohol in the vehicle, driving without insurance, driving without a valid license, no turning signal and improper lane use after police pulled over his green Dodge Stratus at 11:36 p.m. Aug. 13 at Grand and York. He was released on bond.

Jose Rocha-Moreno, 24, 9810 W. Grand Ave., Franklin Park, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without a license after police pulled over his green Chevy Blazer at 6:16 a.m. Aug. 14 at Grand and York. He was released on bond.

Prowling

Javier Ochoa Jr., 19, 37 S. 49th Ave., Bellwood; Salvador Gomez Jr., 19, 4515 Butterfield Road, Bellwood; and a 17-year-old boy were arrested and charged with prowling at 10:28 p.m. Aug. 14 at Edgewood and Vallette streets. While on patrol, police saw the three ride around the area and enter an alley with no street lights. They told police they were trying to find the Prairie Path. All three were released on I-bond.

Attempted Burglary

Someone broke the front door window to a home on the 200 block of East Church Street between 5 p.m. Aug. 8 and 4:52 p.m. Aug. 9. No entry was gained, but damage is estimated at $100.
