Teen Robbed at Gunpoint Friday

This latest incident wraps up a week full of weapons and drug violations in Villa Park.

Police are reporting a 14-year-old boy was robbed at gunpoint at about 12:40 p.m. Friday at Ardmore and Park streets in Villa Park.

The victim told police that a male black subject armed with a handgun stole his iPhone, pocket knife and $10. 

At about 1:45 p.m., an officer on patrol located the suspect walking on the 300 block of North Ardmore. The suspect ran upon seeing the officer, but was later taken into custody without incident on the 300 block of North Princeton. Police found the stolen property hidden in a barbecue grill near where the suspect was apprehended.

The report did not say whether police recovered a weapon.

Police did not release the name of the suspect,  a 17-year-old Villa Park resident, even though he is being charged as an adult with robbery, a Class 2 Felony. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.
