Suspected Elmhurst Mulch Thief Had Actually Already Paid For The Mulch: Police

An employee of the Elmhurst Ace Hardware acted on an anonymous tip and called the police about a suspected mulch theft—but it turned out the guy had just collected mulch he had already paid for.

No criminal charges resulted from the Easter Sunday morning incident as no mulch had actually been filched.

"An employee at Ace Hardware received an anonymous tip that she witnessed an unknown male loading bags of mulch into his vehicle," police said. "It was later learned that this male had permission by a manager the previous day to pick up the already paid for mulch on today's date."
