Child Approached Near Conrad Fischer

The principal at Conrad Fischer School contacted police after a student told her a man driving a black, possibly four-door vehicle with tinted windows stopped and asked her if she wanted a ride while she was standing at Van Auken and Wrightwood at 8:05 a.m. Sept. 13. The vehicle was last seen southbound on Van Auken. Police did not provide any additional description of the man. An investigation is under way.

Sex Offender May Have to Move

An employee of Elmbrook Nursing Home, 127 W. Diversey, ran a background check as required for a new resident moving in. He contacted police at 5:05 p.m. Sept. 13 because the results of the background check showed the man to be a convicted sex offender. He is no longer required to register as a sex offender, police said, but he is still restricted from living within 500 feet of a school. Elmbrook is across York Road from Churchville Middle School. Police said the man most likely would need to move. The case will be forwarded to the detective division for followup, police said.

Juvenile Arrested at York for Disorderly Conduct

A 16-year-old girl was sent to the Kane County Juvenile facility after an incident at York High School, 355 W. St. Charles Road, at 11 a.m. Sept. 13. A police officer was asked to assist a dean with the girl, who was refusing to leave the lunchroom after not showing her identification for three days in a row, police said. She reportedly was "very uncoorperative," refusing to leave and using profanity, police said. Once they got her into the commons area, the officer attempted to place her under arrest, where she continued to resist and use profanity. She was taken to the police station. A charge of disorderly conduct was approved through juvenile screening, and she was taken to Kane County, police said.
