Sticky-Fingered Cleaning Lady Stole Elmhurst Woman's Things: Cops

The cleaning lady stole a tapestry and a bed sheet, police said, and she was fired.

An Elmhurst woman rooted around in her cleaning lady's purse and found she was smuggling property out of the house, police said.

The Lawndale Avenue resident "noticed a small number of items missing from her home and felt her cleaning lady of nearly two years may have been responsible for the missing items," police said.

The woman "decided to check the cleaning lady's purse while in her home one day and located a 'tapestry' folded in the lady's purse," police said.

The "cleaning lady admitted to taking other items including a bed sheet," police said. "She was terminated and victim wishes to now sign complaints."

The cleaning lady has yet to be charged and the investigation is pending, police said.
