Softball Coach Tells Driver to Get Lost, and Fountains Get Soaped—Again

Car Damaged by Softball

During a softball game on the 200 block of South Fair at 7:08 p.m. June 30, a man’s vehicle was stuck by a foul ball, breaking the drivers side rear tail light. When the man told the coach what had happened, the coach swore at him and told him to leave because they were in the middle of the game. Officers later spoke to the coach, who provided the victim the league’s certificate of liability and contact information for the league administrator.

Someone vandalized the bicentennial fountain at York and South streets between 3 p.m. June 28 and 9 a.m. June 29. Four images of a jackalope skeleton were painted in white paint on the east side of the fountain, and soap also was poured into the fountain. Damage is estimated at $200.

While on patrol at 8 p.m. June 29, an officer saw bubbles emitting from the City Centre fountain.

Solicitation Without a Permit

Jamal Abdul Hardeman, 28, 615 Northside Drive #13A, Griffin, GA, was cited under city ordinance for soliciting without a permit at 1:02 p.m. June 29 on the 600 block of South Bryan Street. Hardeman was asked by a homeowner several times to leave the property and he reportedly did not until police were called.

Suspicious Circumstances

A male told police he had been contacted on the Web site Toontown.com between 7:36 p.m. June 27 and 1:20 p.m. June 29 by a subject claiming to be a 12-year-old girl out of North Carolina. The alleged girl made some sexual references and asked the victim to send her pictures of his chest. An investigation is pending.
