Smashed, Bent, Scratched and Egged: Elmhurst Police Report Property Damage

Cadillac sustains $3,000 in damage, Wilder Park bathroom will cost $1,500 to repair, and school door smashed and spray-painted at Conrad Fischer.

A woman driving west on Vallette at Arlington at 6:10 p.m. May 31 had her windshield broken when someone threw a water balloon at her car. She told police she saw a group of 10 to 15 kids standing at the intersection when it hit, so she followed them in her vehicle around the block, but they got away.

The stop sign at First and Maple was broken off its base. An officer on patrol noticed the damage at 2 a.m. June 1.

Someone painted a blue circular symbol on a city street light box on the 200 block of East Crescent. The damage was discovered June 1.

A man found his side mirrors pushed in while parked overnight on Maple Tree Court between June 1 and 2. The victim also said his vehicle was spit on numerous times.

The windshield was cracked on a vehicle parked on the 300 block of East Harrison between 10:30 and 10:45 a.m. June 20.

The women's bathroom at Wilder Park sustained damage estimated at $1,500 between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. June 2. A stall door was bent and broken at its frame, and a block of concrete was dumped into the toilet. Elmhurst Park District is reporting an increase in incidents of vandalism; the most recent occurence prior to the June 2 damage was feces smeared on the walls, according to police.

A van parked on the 100 block of Berteau was spray-painted between 11:30 p.m. June 2 and 10:21 a.m. June 3. The victim also found a firework in the tailpipe of the vehicle.

Someone spray-painted the south privacy wall that divides the Canadian National Railroad tracks from the Prairie Manor Townhomes, 2 Manchester Lane. The damage was discovered at 9 a.m. June 8.

Someone broke the window on door #9 at Conrad Fischer School, 888 Wilson, between midnight June 3 and 1:51 p.m. June 10. The door also was spray-painted, police said.

The side of a home on the 200 block of Grandview was egged between 8:40 and 9:30 p.m. June 10. The victim said her house also was egged the week before.

A Public Works employee discovered graffiti etched into the concrete window sill on the double windows on the south side of the train depot at 128 W. First St. at 2:05 p.m. June 11.

A home on the 400 block of Avery was egged between 11 p.m. June 15 and 10:12 a.m. June 16.

A vehicle parked on the 100 block of West Madison was egged between 10 p.m. June 15 and 2:30 p.m. June 16.

A parkway tree fell on a Dodge Caravan parked on the 400 block of Fairfield at 11:11 p.m. June 17, causing a large dent on the passenger side front quarter panel, hood and passenger door.

A Cadillac STS was scratched while the vehicle was parked on the first block of Donald Court between 6 p.m. June 18 and 8 a.m. June 19. Damage is estimated at $3,000.
