Coroner Identifies Man Found in Salt Creek April 18

The 54-year-old homeless man found in the river near Graue Mill was identified by a partial fingerprint that matched an arrest record, The Doings reports.

The human body found in Salt Creek near Graue Mill on the Hinsdale-Oak Brook border has been identified as a 54-year-old homeless man named Michael Hardin,Β last seen at a PADS shelter in January, The Doings Hinsdale reports.

According to the paper, the DuPage County Coroner's Office identified the body based on a tiny bit of fingerprint that survived the body's "advanced decomposition." The print matched Hardin's from a previous arrest record; the cause of death appeared to be drowning.

Officias told the paper it is unknown where or when Hardin died, saying that the floods of mid-April could have brought his body from any of several bodies of water upstream from Salt Creek.
