Role Model—Dad Tells Son to Run After Hitting Parked Car: Cops

The son was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and the father was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

A father told his son to make a run for it after crashing into a car in Eldridge Park Sunday morning, police said.

The cops tracked down the father-and-son fugitives some time after the 11:40 a.m. accident, police said.

"The passenger of the offender's vehicle is the father of the driver, who instructed him to continue driving once the driver knowingly struck the parked" car, police said.

The 15-year-old son, identified by police only as "Andrew C.," was charged with leaving the scene of an accident. The 49-year-old father was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Even though the father is an adult—and well into his middle-age—the Elmhurst police have identified him only as "George J." Patch has requested the full police report on the incident.

Both "Andrew C." and "George J." were "cited and released on scene," police said.
