Retail Theft, Forgery Arrests Made, But Rainbow Restaurant Robbery, Car Thefts Go Unsolved

Thefts reported by Elmhurst police June 3-5.

Retail Theft Arrests

Diana Kathy Gonzalez, 35, 226 E. Normandy Drive, Addison, was arrested and charged with retail theft after she placed numerous items in her basket at Dominick's, 215 S. Route 83, and walked out without paying at 3:33 p.m. June 4. She was released on bond.

Jennifer R. Cain, 35, 1453 E. Portocol, Palatine, and Erica Repple, 27, 51 E. State Parkway, Schaumburg, were arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of stolen property at Dominick's, 215 S. Route 83, at 3:53 p.m. June 4. Repple also was wanted on two warrants for possession of narcotic equipment and larceny. She was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Sherry McCann, 30, 1671 Minnesota, Elk Grove Village, was arrested and charged with felony retail theft after police say she filled her purse with merchandise at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, and left without paying at 11:36 a.m. June 5. She was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Forgery

Cameron E. Jackson, 24, 5902 S. King Drive, Chicago, was arrested and charged with unlawful acquisition of a controlled substance, possession of fraudulent prescriptions and forgery after police said he was seen passing a fraudulent prescription at CVS Pharmacy, 110 W. North Ave., at 5 p.m. June 4. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Commercial Burglary

Someone broke into Rainbow Restaurant, 233 N. York Road, between 12:20 and 5 a.m. June 4. The morning manager told police that when she opened the restaurant she found the cash register on the floor. Police saw pry marks on the rear door. Money was missing from the register, as was the DVR containing the security footage. Police have no suspects.

Identity Theft

Residents of the 400 block of North West Avenue discovered that someone opened a Charles Schwab investment account in their names in April. They also found fraudulent charges on a Chase Visa card.

A resident of the 100 block of North Willow learned his checking account had been compromised and used to make fraudulent overseas online purchases between May 15 and 29.

A resident of the 600 block of North Kenilworth reported that two personal checks were cashed for a total of $700 on May 29. The victim said her checkbook was missing.

Other Items Stolen

A silver Audi Q7 was taken from the lot at M&L Imports, 856 N. York Road, between 6:45 p.m. June 1 and 7 p.m. June 3. Police said there was no damage or glass in the area, no keys were taken and no security cameras that could view the vehicle being driven off the lot.

A wallet was found in the men's restroom at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, 155 E. Brush Hill, at 12:20 p.m. June 3. A suspect was seen on video surveillance walking from the victim's office and into the restroom where the wallet was found. The wallet was returned to the victim, but $30 was taken by the offender. The victim did not want to file a complaint.

A gray Reconyz Hyperfire SM 750 security camera was taken from a utility pole at Shady Lane and North Avenue between 7:45 a.m. June 3 and 8 a.m. June 4.

A 2012 Chevrolet Malibu was stolen from the lot at Larry Roesch Chrysler, 200 W. Grand, between 9 p.m. June 3 and 1 p.m. June 4. The vehicle was recovered by OnStar on Dearborn in Chicago. An investigation is pending.

An employer from Power Distributing, 185 N. Industrial Drive, dropped his money bag in the parking lot of AIM Leasing, 782 Industrial, between 5:40 and 8 a.m. June 5. It was later found, but the cash was missing.

A decorative bicycle with flower baskets that was chained to a tree on the 700 block of South Kearsage Avenue was stolen between 11 a.m. June 3 and 5 p.m. June 5.
