A resident near Monterey and Thomas streets reported that he heard shots fired near his home in the area of Plunkett Park at 10 p.m. July 14. He told police he heard popping sounds that sounded much louder than fireworks and more like gunfire.
The man walked through the park on July 16 and found five rounds of red, 12-gauge shotgun shells.
Neighbors in the area told police they also heard the shots. The shells were placed into evidence.
