Police Say Several People Were DUI When They Crashed Their Vehicles Last Week

Also, thief takes $40,000 worth of jewelry from home on Chandler and car stolen from Jewel.

Residential Burglary

Someone pried open the back door of a home on the 200 block of Chandler between 2:50 and 3:15 p.m. April 5 and removed about $40,000 worth of jewelry.

DUI Arrests

Michael J. Grosdidier, 58, 391 S. Prospect, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after his black Nissan Altima hit a fire hydrant and a parkway tree at Seminole and Prospect at 12:32 a.m. April 5. He was released on I-bond.

Kimberly A. Garcia, 23, 168 Quail Run Court, Carol Stream, was arrested and charged with DUI after her silver Ford Escort hit a guardrail at Lake Street and Route 83 at 1:44 a.m. April 5. She also was charged with driving with a suspended license, failure to  give information, failure to reduce speed and driving without insurance, and she had a warrant for failure to appear. She was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Dorothy M. Whistler, 78, 283 Adelia, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with DUI and failure to yield at an intersection after her silver Buick LeSabre hit a vehicle driven by a 37-year-old Elmhurst woman at Seminole and York at 10:36 a.m. April 5. She was released on I-bond.

Possession of Cannabis

Marvelle Henigan, 32, 1646 S. Komensky, Chicago, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and open alcohol after police responded to a call for a suspicious vehicle at the Waverton Hotel, 624 N. York, at 10 p.m. April 5. He was also found to have a warrant. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Warrant Arrest

Forrest R. Bedke Jr., 23, 155 S. West Apt. 4, Elmhurst, turned himself in on two warrants at 10:38 p.m. April 5. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Car Stolen

A woman who was shopping at Jewel, 153 E. Schiller, between 10:30 and 11 a.m. April 4, came out of the store to find her black 1997 Toyota Camry had been taken from the south side of the lot. The store video did not provide any additional information.
