Police: Two Arrests at Dominick's, and Resident Away for Six Weeks Comes Home to Find Pry Marks

Also, witness confronts man trying to get into parked cars at 2 a.m.

Attempted Burglary

A resident of the 100 block of West Butterfield told police on Aug. 13 that she found pry marks on her condominium door, but no one got inside. She said she has not been home since June 28. The dead bolt lock was still in place.

Retail Theft Arrests

Mary V. Jenkins, 34, 607 W. Bode, Hoffman Estates, was arrested and charged with retail theft after she reportedly was seen on camera at 10:12 a.m. Aug. 10 removing items worth $28.18 from Dominick's, 215 S. Route 83, without paying. She was released on I-bond.

Alyson O'Doherty, 19, 123 Ann St., Clarendon Hills, was arrested and charged with retail theft and possession of alcohol by a minor after she allegedly took items worth $124 from Dominick's, 215 S. Route 83, at 10:21 p.m. Aug. 11. She was released on I-bond.

Witness Stops Would-be Thief

A man was seen attempting to break into vehicles parked in the lot at 163 N. York at 1:58 a.m. Aug. 13. A witness confronted the man, who ran northbound on York Road. Police were unable to find him.

Trespassing

Police were called to the 900 block of Oaklawn on a report of a man asking people for money at 5 p.m. Aug. 14. Police said the suspect, who was driving a tan Kia Sedona, was at the same location on three occasions asking for money. They told him to leave and issued a no-trespass notice.
