Theft Arrests

Ana M. Fabian, 41, 18W231 Lowell Lane, Villa Park, and Stephany Fabian, 18, of the same address, were arrested and charged with retail theft after they reportedly were seen taking several items from Sears Essentials, 265 S. Route 83, at 2:33 p.m. March 6. Total amount of merchandise was $235.19. They were released on bond.

Allen Schroeder, 51, 16 N. Michigan, Villa Park, was arrested and charged with retail theft after he was seen removing a bottle of Skol vodka from a shelf at Dominick’s, 215 S. Route 83, and leaving the store without paying at 5 p.m. March 8. He was released on I-bond.

Identity Theft

A resident of the 400 block of East Church Street reported that someone had completed two electronic fund transfers in the amount of $11,000  from his children’s Bright Start college savings fund to an unknown account Feb. 19.

A resident on the 900 block of Swain reported that her granddaughter had taken several of her checks and stolen more than $3,000 from her bank account between March 7 and 9. The victim suspects the granddaughter gained access to her account by ordering checks and stealing them from the front porch when they were delivered.

A resident of the 400 block of North Evergreen reported that when he was checking his online balance for his debit account he noticed 11 unauthorized charges to his account between March 8 and 9 in Cleveland. Total loss is $679.47.

A resident of South Berkley Street reported that someone gained access to her debit card and charged $376 in purchased between Feb. 28 and March 7. Five purchases were made and included tickets to Mexico and food.

Theft

Someone removed the rear license plate and registration sticker from a vehicle parked at 678 N. York between 11 a.m. Oct. 20 and 3:01 p.m. March 3.

Two people were seen in Jewel, 153 E. Schiller, filling a shopping cart with three boxes of diapers and other unknown items and leaving the store without paying at 2:48 p.m. March 9. They got into a black Dodge and left the area. An investigation is pending.

Someone removed a $650 Apple iPad from a locked vehicle parked on the 400 block of West Third Street between 1 p.m. Feb. 26 and 12:10 p.m. Feb. 27. Nothing else was missing.

Someone entered an unlocked locker at Elmhurst College Faganel Hall, 190 S. Prospect Ave. between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. March 9, and removed his wallet from his backpack. The wallet contained $15, a debit card, college ID, drivers license and a blank check. The victim said after the theft, his debit card had been used at several locations.

Someone broke the drivers side window of a vehicle parked on the 200 block of Emroy between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. March 14 and removed two bags and a GPS unit. One of the bags contained a Samsung Galaxy tab worth $700, and speakers, cables, a USB modem and an I-pod worth $250. The second bag contained medication, make-up and a school ID worth $60. The cost of the window is estimated at $200.

Someone smashed out the rear passenger window of a vehicle parked on the 300 block of West Lake Street between 11:45 a.m. and 12:39 p.m. March 15 and removed a purse worth $300. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at $300.

Someone stole 12 pieces of galvanized steel piping used for underground electrical work on traffic signals from Throne Electric, 1200 S. York Road, between 3 p.m. March 16 and 7 a.m. March 17. The pipe pieces were not bundled or strapped. Loss is estimated at $840.

Someone removed a 16-foot open bed trailer with a fold-down rear gate from the west side of Champion Windows, 549 W. Lake St., between 4 p.m. March 11 and 8 a.m. March 15. Value is estimated at $5,000.

Attempted Theft by Deception

A woman attempted to purchase a 2008 Mercedes C163 using an Illinois drivers license at Lucky Motors, 817 N. Church St., at 4:21 p.m. March 14. The bank reported the account was flagged. The offender fled the scene in a white BMW with California registration.

Damage to Property

A Union Pacific employee accidentally drove his construction bobcat into a decorative brick retaining wall at the southeast corner of York Road and First Street at 12:51 p.m. Feb. 21. Bricks were replaced by the driver, but they may need to be repaired.

Someone removed the driver and passenger side mirrors from a vehicle parked at Elmhurst College’s north parking lot, 190 S. Prospect Ave., between 7 p.m. Feb. 24 and 12:03 p.m. Feb. 27. The drivers side mirror was lying on the ground next to the car and the passenger side mirror could not be located. Damage is estimated at $200.

Someone smashed the drivers side window of a red 1998 Saturn that was parked in the lot at Jewel, 944 S. York Road, between 5:20 and 6:02 p.m. Feb. 28. Nothing appeared to be missing. Damage is estimated at $200.

Someone damaged a ceramic photo attached to a headstone at Elm Lawn Cemetery, 140 E. Lake St., between 9:20 a.m. Jan. 6 and 10:22 a.m. March 1. Damage is estimated at about $200.

Someone broke out the back window of a vehicle parked on the 400 block of Evergreen between 8 p.m. March 5 and noon March 6. Damages is estimated at $200.

Someone broke out the rear window of a vehicle parked on the 400 block of North Larch between 7 p.m. March 5 and 1:30 p.m. March 6, Damage is estimated at $250.

A resident of the 100 block of South Poplar Avenue reported that while he was watching television, he heard a loud explosion from outside his patio doors at 12:50 a.m. March 12. When he opened his blinds, he saw his large planter was broken into pieces. Damage to the pot and screen door is $160.

Someone damaged the sign at Madison Early Education Center, 130 W. Madison, between noon March 12 and 6:30 a.m. March 13. The sign was split in half. Damage is estimated at $1,500.

Someone broke the passenger side window of a vehicle while it was parked on the 200 block of North Emroy between 7:40 a.m. ad 3 p.m. March 14. Damage is estimated at $200.

Someone broke the drivers side mirror of a vehicle parked on the 700 block of North Geneva between noon and 3 p.m. March 14. Damage is estimated at $100.

Someone broke a double pane glass window of a home under construction on the 100 block of Fairlane Avenue between 4 p.m. March 3 and noon March 17. The damage, estimated at $300, appears to have been caused by a BB pellet.
