Police Report House Fire on Evergreen and Arrests for DUI, Drugs and Domestic Battery

Arrests reported June 12 and 13 in Elmhurst.

Spark Causes House Fire

Elmhurst police responded, along with fire personnel, to a house fire on the 300 block of West Evergreen Lane at 1:37 p.m. June 13. Heavy white smoke was coming from the floor of the home. The owner is out of town, police said, but his father and a handyman were reportedly soldering water pipes and working on the house to get it ready for rental. They said a spark may have gotten between the walls.

Jennilee Billard, 25, 555 Gundersen Drive Apt. 102, Carol Stream, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs and driving without insurance after the green Pontiac G6 she was driving was involved in an accident with a car driven by a 28-year-old Elmhurst woman at North and West at 4:53 p.m. June 13. She was released on bond.

Bernardino Villasenor, 50, 1211 N. Elmwood, Oak Park, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police pulled over his black Mercedes Benz for failure to signal at Park and Cottage Hill at 12:26 a.m. June 13. He was released on bond.

Domestic Battery

Daniel Wohlfiel, 50, 209 Chandler, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with domestic battery at his home at 10:54 p.m. June 12. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Allen Schroeder, 53, 757 S. York, was arrested and charged with domestic battery, battery and criminal damage to property at his home at 9:22 p.m. June 13. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Possession of Cannabis

Three people were arrested after police pulled over a blue Infiniti I30 for disobeying a traffic control signal at North and West avenues at 11:39 p.m. June 12. Jessica Velasco, 19, 2056 N. Lacrosse Ave. Unit 2, Chicago, was charged with driving without a license and driving without insurance. A 17-year-old male passenger was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Passenger Cesar Trejo, 20, 1823 N. 33rd, Stone Park, was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal transportation of alcohol and allowing an unauthorized person to drive. All were released on bond.
