Police Report Arrests for DUI, Cannabis; and a Pot Plant Grows on Lake Street

Also, police report another dumpster fire, this time at Jackson School.

DUI Arrests

Nicholas Torres, 30, 517 S. Brewster, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without a license after police pulled him over for speeding at Schiller and Robert Palmer Drive at 1:26 a.m. Aug. 3. He was released on bond.

Jose Velasquez, 20, 111 Bridget St. Apt. GA, Bensenville, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without a license after police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on the 500 block of North Michigan at 12:36 a.m. Aug. 4.

Luis Sanisaca, 30, 4633 N. Kimball Ave. Apt. 1C, Chicago, was arrested and charged with DUI, driving without a license and driving without insurance after police pulled over his silver Honda CRV for improper lane use at York and Third at 12:44 p.m. Aug. 4. He was released on bond.

Marijuana Grows on Lake Street

According to a witness, on Aug. 3, a white man about 25 to 30 years old, wearing a green hat and gray T-shirt, got out of a silver Mercedes Benz with rear tinted windows in a vacant lot on the 600 block of West Lake Street and began watering a plant. After the man left, at about 12:33 p.m., police located a marijuana plant inside a tan pot behind a downed tree. The officer left his card with a note for the owner of the plant to contact police, and the plant was placed into evidence.

Possession of Cannabis

Keia Solomon, 35, 4236 W. Washington Blvd., Apt. 2, Chicago, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis after a traffic stop for expired registration at Roosevelt Road and Interstate 290 at 6:40 p.m. July 26. Solomon, who also was charged with driving with a suspended license, was released on bond.

Jonathon P. Wells, 21, 1130 E N Broadway St., Lombard, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis after police pulled him over for speeding at Route 83 and Lake Street at 6:11 p.m. July 30. He was released on bond.

A 17-year-old girl was arrested and charged with driving without a license and possession of cannabis after police pulled over her silver Pontiac Grand Am on the 600 block of West County Line Road at 6:39 p.m. July 30. She was released on bond. 

Martrell J. Mizell, 19, 5013 Cypress Court, Hillside, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis, and driving without insurance after police pulled over his red Oldsmobile on the 100 block of East Butterfield Road at 4:45 p.m. Aug. 1. He was released on bond.

Mark Swanson, 18, 884 Euclid, Elmhurst; Raymond J. Sutter, 18, 952 Stratford, Elmhurst; and Janday Lopez, 18, 1437 Golfview Drive, Glendale Heights, were arrested and charged with possession of cannabis after police pulled over their brown Toyota Avalon for disobeying a stop sign at York and Madison at 9:03 p.m. Aug. 1. They were released on bond.

Frank J. Gaudio, 18, 262 N. Geneva Ave., Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia after police pulled over the vehicle he was riding in for no headlights and disobeying a stop sign at Schiller and Berteau at 1:57 a.m. Aug. 2. He was released on bond.

Harrison Rose, 19, 453 S. Parkview, was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis at his home, 453 S. Parkview, at 11 p.m. Aug. 6. He was released on bond.

Dumpster Fire at Jackson School

Elmhurst police responded to Jackson School, 925 S. Swain, for a dumpster fire at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 3. Police said the paper recycling dumpster in the northwest area of the parking lot was "fully engulfed in flames." A witness told police four middle-school-aged boys were near the dumpster before the fire. This is not the first time fires have been reported in dumpsters. On July 29, police reported a dumpster fire at Field School.
