Police Receive Call for 'Shots Fired' Near Atrium Monday

Blood-spotted van and trail of footprints led to two subjects.

Elmhurst police on Monday reported to a call for "shots fired" and screaming coming from an SUV. After an extensive search, the vehicle was located at 10:36 p.m. near the Atrium condominiums, 1 Atrium Way.

Police said they found blood inside the vehicle and footprints leading from the vehicle. Police found a man and a woman a short time later. The woman said they had a verbal argument and that the man would not let her out of the vehicle. When he pulled her back inside, she said she swung her head back, striking him in the nose and causing it to bleed. The man was taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Police said both subjects were uncooperative, had conflicting stories and did not wish to sign complaints. No charges were filed, and the report did not include any mention of a gun being found or fired.
