Police: La Grange Man With Revoked FOID Driving Around Elmhurst With Loaded Gun

Man stopped at York and Roosevelt Monday for a traffic violation.

A La Grange man who allegedly decided to drive around Elmhurst with a loaded gun on Monday is facing multiple charges, police reported.

Jahmall Jones, 29, 213 Hayes St., was arrested and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after police pulled over his white Ford Crown Victoria for failure to signal at Route 83 and Roosevelt Road at 11:45 a.m. May 14.  Police said Jones gave them false proof of insurance, and police proceeded to search his vehicle.

They reportedly found an open bottle of vodka, several Tylenol 3 prescription pills and a loaded Ruger 9mm handgun. A full 30-round magazine was located next to the gun. In addition to the aggravated use of a weapon charge, Jones also was charged with driving without insurance, presenting a false insurance identification card, open alcohol and possession of ammunition with a revoked firearm owners identification card.

Jones' vehicle was towed, and he was taken to DuPage County Jail.
