Police Investigate Residential Burglaries, Eight Arrested for Theft

Victims also report wallets, tires, a tackle box and a whole semi-trailer stolen.

Residential Burglary

The rear kitchen window of a home on the 400 block of Alma was broken into and the home ransacked sometime before 10:53 p.m. Oct. 4. It was unclear at the time of the report what had been stolen. 

Two homes under construction, on the 500 block of South Fairfield and on the 300 block of West Montrose, were broken into between noon Oct. 5 and 7 a.m. Oct. 7. Contractors' tools were stolen from Nitti Development, Perfected Painting and Luke's Carpentry. The offenders may have entered both residences through unlocked windows, according to evidence at the scene, police said. An estimate of loss was not given on the Fairfield site. Loss is estimated at $1,200 on the Montrose site.

Attempted Residential Burglary

A resident of the 500 block of South Poplar Avenue said someone removed the frame of his southeast basement window between 7 a.m. Sept. 30 and 10 a.m. Oct. 4. Police said nothing inside was disturbed or missing and it did not appear anyone entered the house.

Attempted Commercial Burglary

Pry marks were found on the door and windows of Anderson Landscape, 787 S. Route 83, at 8:19 a.m. Sept. 30. The suspect did not make entry into the business.

Theft Arrests

Patricia L. Kearney, 49, 209 S. Oak, Itasca, was arrested and charged with retail theft after she allegedly took $450 worth of clothing and jewelry from Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, at 4:32 p.m. Oct. 2. She was released on bond.

A 17-year-old male was arrested and charged with retail theft after a theft was reported at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, at 1:15 p.m. Oct. 5. Oakbrook Terrace police stopped the white Infiniti I30 that was identified in the theft. He was released on bond.

Dominique N. Tolliver, 27, 23 S. 21st Ave., Maywood, was arrested and charged with retail theft for allegedly taking two Jam Classic wireless speakers worth $50 and Joe Boxer sleep pants worth $17 from Kmart, 265 S. Route 83, at 2:52 p.m. Oct. 6. She was released on bond.

Frankie Trupia, 27, 545 N. Kenilworth, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with theft at his home after police said he was caught on surveillance video taking an iPhone from the front counter of Burger King, 436 N. York, at 9:50 p.m. Oct. 7. He was released on bond.

Dana Crigler, 20, 18W179 Standish Lane First Floor, Villa Park, was arrested and charged with retail theft after he allegedly removed a Cubs jacket worth $40 from Mariano's, 678 N. York, at 10:31 a.m. Oct. 14. He was released on bond.

Victoria S. Henderson, 18, 537 N. Harvard Ave., Villa Park, was arrested and charged with retail theft at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, at 2:12 p.m. Oct. 14. She was released on bond. The report did not indicate what was stolen.

Christine J. Marmolejo, 46, 285 N. Richmond St. Apt. 9, Clarendon Hills, was arrested and charged with retail theft after she allegedly took cosmetics from Kmart, 265 S. Route 83, at 10:56 a.m. Oct. 15. She was released on bond.

Derek Jason Hill, 46, 4025 Brady St., Yorkville, was arrested and charged with felony retail theft after he allegedly concealed two bottles of gin, two bottles of coconut vodka and four bottles of peach vodka worth $269.80 and remove them from Jewel, 153 E. Schiller, at 7:28 p.m. Oct. 15. He was taken to DuPage County Jail.

Theft

A wallet containing $220, a drivers license and credit card was stolen from a business at 1000 N. York St. at 8:45 p.m. Oct. 1. The victim left his wallet on the counter, and when he returned to get it, it was gone.

A spare tire and rim were taken from the rear of a Jeep Wrangler parked in the red lot at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, 155 Brush Hill, between 10:30 a.m. and 2:18 p.m. Oct. 4. Loss is estimated at $550.

A semi trailer worth $4,711 was taken from McMaster Carr, 600 N. County Line Road, between 4:30 p.m. Sept. 5 and 4:30 p.m. Sept. 9. According to the report, an employee of The Royal Group dropped the semi trailer of corrugated boxes off at Dock K, and when he returned to pick it up, it was gone. McMaster Carr conducted an investigation but was unable to locate the semi-trailer. The theft was reported Oct. 4.

A woman told police a tackle box and its contents was taken from the trunk of her car after it had been impounded by O'Hare towing between 11:34 a.m. and 1:46 p.m. Oct. 4. Loss is estimated at $300.

A black Coach wallet containing $149 and credit and debit cards was taken from Dominick's, 215 Route 83, at 9:49 p.m. Oct. 5.

Police were called to a burglary in progress on the 500 block of West St. Charles Road at 2:51 p.m. Oct. 7. Police said two suspects fled down West Avenue in an unknown direction after they were seen pulling on door handles in the parking lot of St. Charles/West Apartments.  One of the suspect entered a silver Jeep Wrangler and attempted to remove the face plate from the stereo. The face plate was left on the floor of the vehicle, but a small, black mag flashlight was taken.

Someone removed the spare tire from a vehicle parked at 155 E. Brush Hill between 10:30 a.m. and 2:18 p.m. Oct. 9.

Someone removed a black Alpine CD radio from an unlocked vehicle parked at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83, between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. Oct. 12. Loss is estimated at $300.

Registration plate stickers were taken from three vehicles belonging to a resident of the 600 block of Sunnyside between July 18 and Oct. 12. Victim told police she had no idea when or where they were taken.
