Police Investigate Hit-and-Run Crash That Killed Villa Park Teen
Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that occurred along I-88 near Joslin, Ill., and killed Emilio A. Perez, 17, of Villa Park who was a student at Willowbrook High School, according to the Daily Herald.
Perez was walking along I-88 near mile marker 6—after police believe his vehicle ran out of gas—when he was struck by the vehicle between 7:15 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, according to the article.
The vehicle left the scene of the crash and police were asking for the public's help in tracking down the hit-and-run suspect, according to the Quad City Times. Police believe the vehicle was either a a SUV or full-size pick-up truck, which may have damage to the driver's side mirror and headlight, according to the article.
Willowbrook students painted a rock at the school with the words "RIP Emilio" and a prayer circle vigil was scheduled at the school Monday night, according to NBC Chicago.
