Police Investigate Arson and Residential Burglary

Portable potty "completely destroyed."

Arson Investigation

A portable bathroom at Conrad Fischer School, 155 Victory Parkway, was "completely destroyed" in an explosion at 9 p.m. July 5, police said. Witnesses said they heard a "very loud explosion" and saw two or three boys running from the scene. Damage is estimated at $2,000. At around 8:20 p.m. the same evening, 21 red M fireworks, two mortars and a long string of firecrackers were found at the park, police said.

Residential Burglary

A home on the 100 block of West Grantley was broken into between 8:38 and 11 a.m. July 3. The victim told police when she and her children returned home, they noticed the front door was ajar and the door jamb and strike plate were damaged. When she opened the door, she noticed damage at the entryway. Several drawers in the master suite and near the bathroom were removed and rifled through.

Attempted Burglary

Fresh pry marks were discovered on the front door of an apartment on the 300 block of West Avenue at 6:58 p.m. July 5. Debris was found on the floor under the pry marks.
